Kathmandu: Nepali national men’s football team captain and goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong has won the ‘Fans Player of the Season award in India’s top-ranked league I-League.
The I-League announced on Thursday that Kiran had received the ‘Fan Player of the Season award. Kiran had played I-League from Round Glass Punjab Football Club last season. He had 7 clean seats in 14 games. He saved 56 shots. He saved 82 percent of the shots.
Kiran had earlier been selected as the best goalkeeper of the I-League. He became the best goalkeeper and received 250,000. Gokulam Kerala FC won the I-League title and Kiran’s Round Glass Punjab finished fourth.
After winning the Fans Player of the Season award, Kiran added another award to his football career and said he was proud to be a Nepali. “I can’t achieve these things in my football career without support and love. So always love”, Kiran wrote on the social network Facebook.
Kiran is currently in closed training for two friendly matches against India, the SAAF Championship, and the Asian Cup qualifiers. The closed training of the national team has started in Pokhara from Wednesday. The team will train in Pokhara for two weeks.
