Kathmandu: Nepal has improved three places in the FIFA rankings. Nepal, which was previously ranked 171st, is ranked 168th in the rankings released by the World Football Federation (FIFA) on Thursday. After May 27, FIFA made the rankings public on Thursday.
In May, Nepal played the remaining three matches of the World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers and before that played a friendly match with Iraq. Nepal lost to Iraq 6-2 at home. Nepal defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 in the World Cup qualifiers and then lost 3-0 to Jordan and Australia in the next two matches.
As in the past, India tops the list of South Asian nations. India is ranked 105th in the FIFA rankings. Similarly, Maldives is in the 158th position. After Nepal, Bhutan is ranked 187th, Bangladesh 188th, Pakistan 198th, and Sri Lanka 205th.
Belgium tops the FIFA rankings, followed by Brazil, World Cup winners third, Euro 2020 runners-up England fourth, Euro winners Italy fifth, Copa America winners Argentina sixth, Spain seventh, Portugal eighth, Mexico ninth, and the United States tenth.
