Murder case of a youth who came to Birgunj from Kathmandu to renew his license: Three accused arrested

Birgunj: Police have arrested three persons on the charge of robbing and killing a young man who had come to Birgunj from Kathmandu to renew his driver’s license.

Rahul Maharjan, 25, of Ramtol, Birgunj Metropolitan City-7, Deep Lama Tamang, 27, of Vicky, and Dhananjay Rajak, 3, of Feta Village Municipality-3 have been arrested for their involvement in the incident.

According to police, they killed Gyanu Pakhrin, 27, of Gongbu in Lalbandi Municipality-1 of Sarlahi by calling him Birgunj.

It has been revealed that the arrested Rahul Maharjan is a friend of the slain Pakhrin. Pakhrin had come to Birgunj along with two other friends on July 27. After that, Deep Lama Tamang of Birgunj stayed in his empty house after consuming alcohol, according to the police.

According to the police, the victim was murdered by leading him to an isolated place at Ramtol, Birgunj by the three accused on the pretext of buying more beer. The victim was murdered by strangling on the throat. They looted a gold chain, a gold ring, a watch, and Rs 10,000 in cash from Pakhrin, kept it with Ravi Sarraf, and then fled from the city.

According to Parsa Police Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Khanal, a piece of gold chain hidden by Deep Lama Tamang in a ditch near the incident site was recovered from the suspects.

Khanal said that the court had extended the time limit by seven days for the three to be arrested. He also said that a search was on for Ravi Sarraf who had absconded with the looted property.
