One person died and 24 others sustained injuries when a bus and a truck collided head-on, in Champapur of Kapilvastu on Tuesday.

Krishna Bahadur Gurung, 27, a resident of Banganga municipality-2 of the district died in the incident, according to police. He was driving the bus during the collision.

Seriously injured in the accident, Gurung breathed his last while being rushed to a hospital in Butwal of the neighbouring Rupandehi district, informs Head Constable Bharat Gurung at the Gorusinge Traffic Police Office.

The bus (Lu 1 Kha 5684) heading to Krishna Nagar of Kapilvastu from Butwal had collided with the truck (Na 4 Kha 3012).

The injured are undergoing treatment at Chauraha Hospital in Butwal. Some of them are said to be critical.

Police have arrested the truck driver for further investigation.
